The CompTIA Project+ (PK0-005) certification exam is designed for professionals who manage small to medium-sized projects as part of their job roles. Unlike other project management certifications that focus heavily on one methodology, Project+ offers a broad overview of essential project management concepts, making it ideal for individuals who need foundational project management knowledge without being tied to a specific framework like PMI or Agile.

The PK0-005 exam assesses a candidate's ability to manage the project life cycle, ensure proper communication, manage resources, and handle project documentation. It covers four primary domains: Project Management Concepts, Project Life Cycle Phases, Tools and Documentation, and Basics of IT and Governance. These domains reflect real-world project environments and practices.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate skills in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects effectively. They must also understand project constraints, risk management, stakeholder communication, and project team dynamics. The exam contains a maximum of 90 questions, including multiple-choice and performance-based items, with a 90-minute time limit.

CompTIA recommends at least 6–12 months of hands-on project management experience before attempting the exam. The certification is vendor-neutral, making it relevant across industries, particularly in IT-focused roles.
