I think it's not good to increase borrowing and worsen our financial situation, but if we worry too much about that, we won't be able to increase sales.

Our focus has shifted from profit margins

Our increasing the absolute amount of profit. Since we've been in a deflationary period for the past five years, sales aren't growing. We had no choice but to improve profit margins and make profits.

However, now the situation is b2c datasets reversed, and with the establishment of a system that allows for such global expansion, we can launch ourselves into the world and grow our top line globally.

    However, our attitude and philosophy

Of making "things that spin and move" centered around motors remains unchanged. The basics haven't changed at all since the company was founded. And so does hard work. None of our employees, including myself, are willing to just go play golf and have fun.

If I win a gold medal, I'll start a skating fund

Shigenobu Nagamori: Founded Nidec in 1973 at the age of 28. Through aggressive M&A, he has built a group of 45 companies. He is also known as the "reconstruction contractor."

--The Sochi Olympics will be held in February, and there are some promising speed skaters within your group.

Last time (at the Vancouver Olympics in the 500m speed skating), I won a silver and a bronze medal. This time, of course, I'm aiming for the gold medal. I'm putting a lot of effort into it.

If we win the gold medal this time, I will set up a skating fund. If we run it as a company club activity, people will stop if business starts to decline. To prevent this from happening, I will set up a fund using my own money. I am thinking about how I can create something that will allow the skating club to remain even if the company goes out of business in the future.

To that end, I want them to achieve good results this time. If they can win the gold medal, other promising skaters will gather there. Currently, there are only eight members in Nidec Sankyo's skating club. I would like to increase that to around 20. I would also like to build a dedicated practice facility where they can practice 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I think this would cost around 5 billion yen, but if we create and manage a 5 billion yen fund, recessions won't be an issue.

In any case, the whole group cheers on the team. These minor sports give a greater impact to the people. Running a company is not enough to inspire the entire nation. It's a completely different thing. As a manager, I would like to inspire the entire nation through my management, but that's not possible. That's the power of sports, after all.
