    Hey everyone,

I wanted to share some info and start a conversation about Group Life Insurance, especially for those who get it through their employer or are considering it.

    What is Group Life Insurance?

Group life insurance is usually a term life policy offered by employers as part of your benefits package. It often provides a basic level of coverage (like 1–2 times your annual salary) and may come at no cost or a very low premium. Some plans let you buy extra coverage at group rates too.

    Pros:

    • Convenient and affordable (sometimes even free)

    • No medical exam required in most cases

    • Automatic enrollment in many companies

    • Good basic protection if you’re just starting out

    But keep in mind:

    • Coverage is often limited and may not be enough for long-term family needs

    • You lose the policy if you leave the job

    • It’s not customized to your financial goals like a personal policy could be

    Questions for the community:

    • Are you relying only on your group life insurance, or do you have individual coverage too?

    • Has anyone here used a group plan as a stepping stone to a more comprehensive policy?

    • Any recommendations for supplementing group coverage with private policies?

    • Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences, especially how group coverage has worked (or not worked) for you!

    Thanks!
