With dozens of different weapon types and hundreds of possible modifiers and bonuses in Diablo 2 Resurrected, it can be difficult for players to determine which drops are truly valuable keeps. This guide outlines the main weapon categories worth holding onto for both their power and trade potential.

    Unique Weapons

Without a doubt, unique items should always be identified and preserved when found. Many iconic and best-in-slot unique weapons are gamechangers, such as Windforce for Bowazons, Death's Web for Necromancers, or Oath for Act 2 Mercenaries. Even lesser uniques have uses for experimenting with builds or entry level trading.

Be on the lookout for unique weapons with enhanced damage or attack speed modifiers, critical strike bonuses, useful secondary effects like Cold Damage or Life Drain, and most of all Synergies that complement popular skill trees.

    Rare Weapons with High Rolls

While not as instantly recognizable as uniques, well-rolled rare weapons can outperform everything but the absolute peak uniques. Prioritize rare one-handers, polearms and bows with very high enhanced damage (e.g. 200% ed), attack speed, critical strike, skills bonuses or useful secondary effects like pierce or chain lightning.

Two-perfect-stat rare weapons are quite collectible and three perfect stats should be considered endgame gear. Additionally, rares with five or six open sockets allow for powerful runeword strategies to cheese through content.

    Bases for Runewords

Keep an eye out for rare or magic base D2R Non-Ladder Items for sale required for popular runewords. This includes four-socket polearms, swords and hammers for Insight, spirits and more. Exceptional base items are best but even normal versions retain trade value. Other sought after runeword bases are two-socket helms, 3os armors like duriels and 4os crystal or archon plates.

    Magic Weapons

While not exciting like rares or uniques, niche magic weapons can still hold merit. Look for magic items that rolled with sockets, maximum or enhanced damage bonuses, critical strike or attack speed. Runeword bases and exceptional D2R Non-Ladder Items for sale gain more attention due to higher item levels allowing for better chance at multiple sockets.

Other usable magic weapons offer helpful attributes like critical strike damage, pierce or open wounds on rare weapons types like Buriza crossbows or Witchwild String bows.

    Class Specific Drops

Certain weapon classes are indispensable to particular builds. Javelins, claws, staves and orbs hold intrinsic value to Amazon, Assassin, Druid and Sorceress accordingly. While common, well-rolled items for unique class-specific builds like Throw Barbarians are worth reserving too.

Magic or rare weapons with focused +skills bonuses or +attack ratings for their relevant class types increase in value considerably. Jewelry, charms and runewords expand build options as well.

    Crafted Weapons

Weapons created through the Horadric Cube's Crafting recipes have potential worth. 4os Crystal Swords or Flails allow for Spirit runewords useful across many builds. Polearms rolled with sockets enable Infinity mercenaries. Weapons that roll maximum damage or critical strike bonuses can also shine.

The time and materials investment of Crafting should be respected. Keep magic or rare crafted bases that successfully generated valuable affixes, sockets or item levels.

    Throwable and Ranged Weapons

Javelins, throwing knives and bows attract specific builds despite lower drop rates. Very well-rolled rare versions with damage, attack speed bonuses, mana leech or pierce percent hold promise. Any that generate sockets further increase value.

Offensively-focused unique bows, such as Windforce for its guided arrow damage buff, remain end-game weapons. Rare or magic alternatives rolled closely match them warrant preserving too.

    Other Considerations

While rarer drops, certain weapon classes see niche use. Wands remain useful for casting builds despite lower damage. Staves offer additional skills versus other weapon types. Technical unique weapons enable specialized builds requiring their attributes.

Overall damage ranges, durability, requirements and other hard stats factor into a weapon's worth along with prefixes and affixes. Unique visual appearances add collecting value too. With so much variety, patience and an open mind will reveal Diablo 2 Resurrected's many hidden gems.
